Honest Questions Are Not Rebellion
Scripture is full of people asking God difficult things. The Bible treats the question as part of faith, not the end of it.

Job asks. Habakkuk asks. The psalmists ask in language most of us would edit before praying it. Thomas asks for evidence and receives it without rebuke.
A faith that cannot hold a question has usually mistaken confidence for trust.
“O LORD, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not hear?”
Asking well
There is a difference between a question that seeks and a question that performs. The first stays for the answer. The second has already left.
We try to ask the first kind, in public, with our work shown.
Notes
- 1Lament makes up roughly a third of the Psalter — a proportion most modern worship does not reflect.
